Earth Day weekend events in Montreal – you may not have heard of these

If you’re looking for 2013 Earth Day events in Montreal, I wrote about them here

Some of the events listed here aren’t widely known.


Today, April 21st, join Montreal artist Claudia B., Recyc-Ordi and others for an afternoon of Earth Day activities. The main event is the launch and communal creation of a virtual “tree” made of CD cases and computer keyboard keys.

Eventually Claudia plans to create a “forest” of “pixelated” trees like the one shown here:

When: 1-5 p.m.

Where: Parking lot of the monastery at 4449, Berri St. (near the Mont-Royal metro)

On Earth Day Day itself (April 22)

NDG Pour La Terre

Meet at the Coop La Maison Verte for a party. Then head to the Vendôme metro to travel together for the huge gathering at the Place des Festivals/Quartier des spectacles.

When: 12 noon

Where: 5785 Sherbrooke West

Official Earth Day Event

Organizers are hoping 100,000 people “men, women and children of good will, who are committed to the defense of common good, wealth sharing, citizen rights and respect for our environment” will gather together to walk for Earth Day.

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Place des Festivals/Quartier des spectacles (Place-des-Arts metro, Jeanne-Mance & Ste. Catherine streets)

City lane cleanup

The Montreal Art of Living Centre is inviting people to clean up De l’Esplanade street between Bernard and Van Horne.

When: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Where: Bernard & De l’Esplanade
