2012 in review

When I started this blog I was writing for OpenFile. My situation changed and in 2012 blogging served as the main outlet for my writing. I’ve been sporadic but I plan in 2013 to post a lot more often. Many of the media outlets I used to write for no longer exist. I still love journalism and this blog will help me continue to explore subjects that matter not only to me but to people all over the world. I never did this for the stats and I haven’t tried for big audiences. I am happy to have loyal readers. I’m learning a lot about what topics spark an interest.

I just received an e-mail from The WordPress.com. Apparently the “stats helper monkeys” have  prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. I found it interesting. I hope you do too. Happy New Year! I will be posting all sorts of new content shortly.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 4,700 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 8 years to get that many views.
